Hy there,
An acid is defined as a chemical compound having H+ ions in its composition. It is capable of donating H ions.
The pH of acids is usually less than 7.
Strong acids have low pH, like 1,2,3
Weak acids have pH like 4,5,6
The word acid is derived from a Greek word, meaning sour.
Acids are sour.
They turn blue litmus paper red.
Types of acids are-

1. Arrhenius acid-
An Arrhenius acid is a molecule that when dissolved in water will donate an H+ in solution.
Example includes
Hydrochloric Acid- HCl
Nitric acid- HNO3
Sulfuric acid- H2SO4
Acetic acid- CH3COOH, it is also found in vinegar, used in Chinese cooking.

2. Bronsted-Lowry Acid
A Bronsted-Lowry acid, like an Arrhenius acid, is a compound that breaks down to give an H+ in solution.
The only difference is that the solution does not have to be water.

3. Lewis Acid
A Lewis acid refers to an atom or molecule that accepts an electron pair.
Eg- Borane – BH3
Aluminium chloride- AlCl3

Hope it helps.
Thanks.
