Given :   5^m \div 5^{-3}=5^5

(1/2)⁻² + (1/3)⁻³ + (1/4)⁻²

X & Y are in direct proportion

X      4         8           12           15

Y      60       ?          180          ?

To Find : m

Simplify

missing value

Solution

5^m \div 5^{-3}=5^5

\implies 5^{(m-(-3))}  =5^5

\implies 5^{(m+3)}  =5^5

m + 3 = 5

=> m = 2

(1/2)⁻² + (1/3)⁻³ + (1/4)⁻²

= 2² + 3³ + 4²

= 4 + 27 + 16

= 47

X & Y are in direct proportion => Y = kX

60 = k(4)

=> k = 15

=> Y = 15X

X = 8 => Y = 15(8) = 120

X = 15 => Y = 15(15) = 225

X      4         8           12           15

Y      60     120        180         225
