When a batch file is run, the shell program (usually COMMAND or reads the file and executes its commands, normally line-by-line. Unix-like operating systems, such as Linux, have a similar, but more flexible, type of file called a shell script. The filename extension .bat is used in DOS and Windows.

For the computer operating system to run properly text file in the form of BATCH File that contains a sequence of commands are used.
Though they are single individual files they are bundled together to form batches and performs I an orderly sequence.
In DOS it is found with an extension of the BAT.
