Biogas is a mixture of high proportion of methane, carbondioxide, hydrogen and hydrogen sulphide which are highly inflatable gases produced by anaerobic decomposition of slurry by the help of micro organisms taken place in decomposition chamber of bio gas.

Biogas is a production of methane which is used as fuel, via fermentation of organic matter.

There are 3 major steps involved in biogas production:

-Hydrolysis: In this step, break down of large organic molecules such as proteins, carbohydrates and lipids into simpler units with the help of enzyme take place, externally.

- Fermentation: In this step, fermentation of intermediates of organic compounds takes place. In this step, products like volatile organic acids, alcohols, amino acids, CO2 are produced which are later on used as ingredients for the step next.

-Methane formation: In this step, methane producing bacteria decompose compounds completely and produce methane (biogas).
