Black hole is actually a very strange thing not area neither a hole... black hole is beyond human
thinking but there are many genius minds out there who founded many things about black holes..
When a huge star collapses or dies by its own gravity it becomes a blackhole. Only huge ones become blackhole small blackholes become red giant when they dies off.. you have probably heard of neutron star they also have strong gravitational pull they become neutron star when the star of more mass than usual but lesser than the star that became black hole goes supernova
