✍ Calorimeter is cylindrical copper vessel used to measure heat energy, specific heat and latent heat. It is provided with their copper stirrer. It is enclosed in a wooden box so that there is no loss of heat by conduction and radiation.

✍ Let M1 be the mass of a substance of temperature T1 and specific heat C1. Let it be mixed with a cold substance of mass M2 temperature T2 and specific heat C2. The method used is method of mixtures.

✍ Let the two substances are mixed let T be the temperature of mixture in thermal equilibrium.

✍ From the law of conservation of energy ;

✍ Heat lost by the hard substance = Heat gained by the cold substance
