Ion:

It is basically a chemical species. Ions are of two types:

\implies Cations

\implies Anions

Cation:

\bullet They are formed when a neutral atom loses one/more electrons.

\bullet Has less electrons and it is positively charged.

Example:

Sodium atom on losing an electron forms sodium cation.
