When two reactants or chemicals combine together to form different products, it is known to have chemically reacted with each other and is thus called a chemical reaction.
For eg.  Mg + O₂ ⇒ MgO
Here it means that magnesium and oxygen reacted together to form Magnesium Oxide as a product.
