it was raised area of each city of Indus valley civilisation(Harappan civilisation). It shows that Harappan civilisation was an urban civilisation with some sort of social classification as the Citadel had houses of ruling class and some important buildings like Great bath and Great granary . In the Harappan civilisation, the citadel represented a centralised authority. The main citadel in Indus valley was almost 12 metres tall. The purpose of these structures, however remainder debated.
