A clause is a group of words that contains a subject and a predicate.It is of two types either independent or dependent.A simple sentence usually consists of a single finite clause with a finite verb that is independent. Subordinate clauses (dependent clauses) are those that would be awkward or incomplete sentence..

CLAUSE - A group of words which has a subject and predicate of its own and forms a part of a larger sentence is called as "CLAUSE".

TYPES OF CLAUSE ARE :

1.Main clause 
2.Subordinate or Dependent clause

INDEPENDENT CLAUSE MEANS : WHICH STANDS INDEPENDENT AND GIVES A SPECIFIC MEANING .

DEPENDENT CLAUSE MEANS : IT DEPENDENTS ON THE MAIN CLAUSE TO GIVE A SPECIFIC MEANING .
