Colligative properties are those properties of a solution that depend on number of moles of solute. Eg: Elevation in boiling point of solution.

The property which depend upon the number of solute particles irrespective of their nature relative to the total number of particles present in the solution is called a colligative property

Examples: relative lowering of vapour pressure,elevation of boiling point,depression of freezing point etc.
