A colloid is a substance microscopically dispersed evenly throughout another substance. The dispersed-phase particles have a diameter between about 5 and 200 nanometers.
Examples: Milk is an emulsion, which is a colloid in which both parties are liquids.

Colloidal Solution - A solution in which the size of the solute particles are intermediate between those in true solution and suspension.
For Example - Milk, Blood, Ink and solution etc.
Properties of Colloidal solution -
A colloid is a heterogeneous mixture but appear as homogeneous.
- They are translucent.
- The particles of colloids are too small to be seen by naked eyes.
- Particle size of colloids are 1-1000 nm.
- Colloids are big enough to scatter a beam of light passing through it and make it's path visible.
- They do not settle down when left undisturbed.
- They cannot be separated by filtration process but can be separated by centrifugation method.
