A true solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances. It is transparent and does not show tyndall effect. The size of solute particles is less than 1 nm.
A colloid is a kind of solution in which the size of solute particles is intermediate between those in true solution and in suspension. It is translucent and shows tyndall effect. The size of solute particles is between 1 nm and 100 nm.
