A colloid or a colloidal solution is a heterogeneous mixture in which one substance is displaced as very fine particles having size in the range of 1 to 100 nm , in a continuous medium for another substances.

They are heterogeneous mixture .

They can pass through filter paper .

They show Tyndall effect.

Example - Fog , cloud , milk etc.

Heterogeneous mixture in which particles of 1-1000 nm size as dispersed phase are distributed in the dispersion medium is called as colloidal solution.

Examples include smoke, alloys, fog etc.
