Combination reaction is a reaction in which two or more substances combine to form a new compound ( a single substance ).

Example :-

\tt H_2 + O_2 \implies H_2 O

\tt Mg + O_2 \implies MgO

\tt 2 CO + O_2 \implies 2 CO2

\tt 2 SO_2 + O_2 \implies 2 SO_3

\tt CaO + H_2 O \implies Ca (OH)_2

\tt NH_3 + HCl \implies NH_4 Cl

_______________

Other reactions :-

  • Decomposition
  • Displacement
  • Double-displacement
  • Redox

\Huge{\tt{Combination \ Reactions \colon }}

  • Chemical reaction in which two or more substances (elements,ions,atoms or compounds ) interact with each other forming a more chemically complex compound

Combination Reactions are of three types :

  • Reaction between two atoms :

\tt{2{H}_{2} + {O}_{2} \longrightarrow 2{H}_{2}O}

  • Reaction between two compounds :

\tt{CaO + C{O}_{2} \longrightarrow CaC{O}_{3}}

  • Reaction between a compund and an atom :

\tt{{O}_{2} + CO \longrightarrow C{O}_{2}}

  • Combination Reactions are antagonistic to Decomposition reactions
