Hey mate ☺️
A compound is a substance made up of two or more elements chemically combined in a fixed proportion by mass. A compound is formed as a result of chemical reaction, between the constituent elements.
Properties of Compounds :
These are pure substances.
These cannot be seperated by physical method.
Elements loose their properties in compounds.
There composition is fixed.
These have fixed melting point.
Hope it helps you ☺️✌️✌️

HERE'S UR ANSWER....☺
A compound is a substance formed when two or more chemical elements are chemically bonded together. ... The type of bonds holding elements together in a compound can vary: two common types are covalent bonds and ionic bonds. i.e. there are two types of compounds viz. covalent compounds and ionic compounds.
Characteristics of compounds are as follows :-
1) In a compound constituency present indefinite proportion by mass.
2) The properties of compounds are different from the properties of the elements from which they are formed (its constituents).
3) The constituents of the compound cannot be separated by simple physical processes.
4) Formation of a compound is generally accompanied by evolution of energy in the form of heat or light.
5) A compound has a fixed melting point and boiling point.
6) A compound is always homogeneous in nature.
