Answer:

  • Covalent bond is a chemical bond that involves the sharing of electron pairs between atoms. These electron pairs are known as shared pairs or bonding pairs, and the stable balance of attractive and repulsive forces between atoms, when they share electrons, is known as covalent bonding.

Examples of compounds that contain only covalent bonds are methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), and iodine monobromide (IBr).

There are three types of covalent bond: single, double , triple bond.

Single bond : This type of bonds are formed due to the sharing of one pair of electron between two atom. For example : Bonding in

h  \frac{}{2}

Double bond : This type of bonds are formed due to the sharing of two pair of electron between two atom .For example : Bonding in

o  \frac{}{2}

Triple bond : This type of bonds are formed due to the sharing of one pair of electron between two atom. For example : Bonding in

n \frac{}{2}

and look at the pic.
