◾Dams are use barriers built across river to store and utilise the flow of water for various human needs.

◾Large dams and share the storage of adequate water particularly during rainy season and almost make available water supply to areas which have less rainfall.

ADVANTAGES:

Water is transformed for agricultural activities to distant areas from dams through canal system.

Dams helps in generating electricity.

They help to control floods.

They provide water supply to nearby areas towns and cities.

DISADVANTAGES:

SOCIAL PROBLEMS-

The construction of dam submerged the traditional residential areas of people.

A large number of villages and tribals who have been displaced by various development projects does not get any benefit from project.

Dams need huge amount of public money for construction the net benefit do not go to the people & society mainly the urban industrial and government sectors get benefited in form of power generation and irrigation at expence of local people.
