Dam is a barrier constructed to store water and raised its level to form reservoir. It is used to generate electricity or water supply for irrigation or for other purposes.

Large dams addresses 3 problems:

1.social problems

2.environmental problems

3.economic problems

A.A dam is a barrier or an impoundment created to obstruct the flow of water.

B.We seek to build large dams just to have more economic prosperity or development.

C.Three problems associated are:-                                                                                                              1.Construction of large dams leads to migration of people living in that area with no rehabilitation facilities.

2.Due to it land and human habitats gets submerged.

3.The overall vegetation gets submerged which leads to decomposition of living matter and hence methane gas is released due to anaerobic respiration.
