It is a reaction in which a substance breaks down into 2 or more products .
Eg Due to electricity - Electrolysis of water 
      Heat-Decompsition of ferrous sulphate crystals into ferric oxide , sulphur        dioxide and sulphur trioxide .
Due to light- decomposition of silver chloride into silver and chlorine .
