The rarer medium has comparitively less density than the denser medium.

Rarer and Denser medium refers to the comparison between densitiy of various mediums through which a beam of light passes.

Rarer Medium - The light travels faster in the second medium then this medium is called the rarer mediu..

Denser medium - The light travels slower in this medium as compared to tge rarer medium.
This is because this medium has a very high density.
