The detergent is the washing or cleaning material which is better than soap and is used in domestic purpose.
It is better because the charges present in it, reacts with the charge of water and do not forms the srum...

➖The Formula for detergent is C₁₇H₃₅COONa
➖detergents are better than soaps and are better cleaning agents because :-
✔️Soap does not work well in hard water as the Ca2+, Mg2+ ions of hard water react with soap forming insoluble substance.
✔️detergent works well both in hard acidic water and soft water, since detergent reacts with Ca
✔️Detergent is more soluble in water than soap.
✔️Detergent is active in acidic and basic media which soap cannot do.
✔️Detergent is a better cleaning agent than soap.
✔️Detergent can be used both in solid and liquid forms. But soap cannot be used.
