The Himalayan rivers are perennial, i.e. they have water all around the year. ... Himalayan rivers get water from snow and rain, whereas Peninsular rivers are fed by rain only. The drainage basin of Himalayan rivers is comparatively larger than the Peninsular rivers

the main difference between the east following rivers like the Kaveri Krishna Godavari and so on and between the Himalayan River life the Ganga Brahmaputra Yamuna and so on is that the origin of these rivers are different the Himalayan rivers originate from the Himalayas whereas the south east rivers originate from the mountains which are in the Deccan Plateau
