Duplet state is when an element has two electrons in its outermost shell. Example: Helium (2): Electronic configuration is 2. So, helium has 2 electrons in the outermost shell. That is helium is in its duplet state.For example: Hydrogen atoms needs one more electron. So, their valency is 1. Helium's duplet is naturally complete. It needs no electrons so, it's valency is 0. Flourine has 7 electrons in it's outermost shell, it needs 1 electron to complete the octet rule so, it's valency is 1
