HI !

Mendeleev left some gaps in his periodic table , as he predicted that , in the future , more elements would be discovered.
He named the elements to be discovered as "Eka Aluminium", "Eka Silicon", and  "Eka Boron".

Eka Aluminium was later found , and named as Gallium.
Eka Silicon was later found , and named as Germanium.
Eka Boron was later found , and named as Scandium.

Answer:Mendeleev believe that some new elements would be discovered so he named those elements tentatively by adding the prefix eka.(Ela is a sanskrit word for numeral one) to the name of the element immediately above each empty space.the predicted properties of element namely eka-boron,eka-aluminium,eka-silicon were close to the observe properties of scandium , gallium and germanium respectively which were discovered later.
