famine means scarcity of food,drought.
now,point is that how it is related with INDIA
SO,in recent years monsoon came late and not raining as before this causes huge loss , excessive heat and thus takes lot of lives.

I am not sure how famine is related with india but famine means deficiency because of starving the situation when there is no livestock or food
