hey dear here is answer for your question
Water in a bucket on top of a hill. High potential energy. Tip the bucket, the water flows down hill. At the bottom of the hill it's very low potential energy. Water flows from a high potential energy state to low potential energy state.
Similarly, currents are just flow of charges due to an electric potential difference. (The direction has to do with the sign of the charge.)
