What is a good complexity measure for chemical formulas?

I'm developing a chemistry game in which you have to write a compound formula given its name, I want to divide it in difficulty levels so I was wondering what is a good way to split chemical formulas by difficulty (both of the formula or of the name)

You can try splitting the chemical formulas on the base of things like number of atoms in it, number of constituents in it, etc.
