A fifth grader is usually not more than 8 years old. A fifth grader can be a girl or a boy studying in a private or public school. Some fifth graders might be home-schooled but that is very rare.
By such an age, the student has grasped the very basics of life such as reading time, writing and reading in 1 or more languages, playing games, usually able to do simply mathematics and understands the concept of life and death, religions and nationality.
Fifth Grade is not a very crucial time in a child's life e.g. if compared to early nursery or later O, A level or Matric stages which many consider to be the most crucial of all.
