Greenhouse effect is the phenomenon of heating up of the earth's surface due to the heat energy from the sun. When the heat from the sun strikes the earth, it radiates back but some of the heat gets trapped in the atmosphere of earth due to the greenhouse gases.

The heat trapped on the earth's surface increases earth's temperature and the more the amount of greenhouse gases is present, the more the phenomenon of greenhouse will effect earth.
