A hazard is an agent which has the potential to cause harm to the environment.
FOR EG. Toxic wastes released from industries into nearby water bodies, it can be harmful to people who are dependent on the water body for their daily necessities like bathing, washing clothes as a source of drinking water. The people then suffer from many dangerous diseases like cancer which can lead to death, also if a group of people of the locality are dependent on the water body then there can be an epidemic.
