Hysteresis is the dependence of the state of a system on its history. For example, a magnet may have more than one possible magnetic moment in a given magnetic field, depending on how the field changed in the past

A hysteresis loop helps understand the magnetic properties of a material. Only shown by ferromagnetic materials. The fact behind hysteresis is that once the magnetization I is increased, it will never decrease back to it's original value.
It helps in designing electromagnets, ac generators etc.
hope it works
