Explanation:

The poet's mother has been compared to the 'late winter's moon' because winter , like old age is a time of inactivity. Old age is the last phase of human life just as winter is the last month of the Year. And in old age a man grows pale like death just as the moon in late winter looks pale white.

late winter moon is dull and ashy. here poets mother become dull.

Answer:

In th late winter, the sky is filled with fog and mist. The moon at that season cannot shine brightly. It appears to be din and most of the time resets behind these clouds. Noone can predict how long the moon could stay and what time the clouds would hide it..

Hope it helps uh!!
