Heya!!

Its simple...

Look, the earth takes 365 days and 1/4 day to complete one revolution around the sun. But we take the time of one revolution to be 365 days only.

So, after four years these 1/4 day changes into 4/4 that is, a single day.
Hence, it forms a new day. That's the reason why we have 366 days in a leap year!

Hope helped!!

The earth takes 365 and 1/4 days to complete one revolution round the sun. Every four years the 1/4 day adds up to a full day. Therefore every fourth year has 366 days and is called a leap year.
The effects of revolution are -

The time taken by the earth to revolve round the sun once is 365 and 1/4 days or a year on the earth.
It causes variation in the altitude of the mid - day sun.
