A lens is a piece of transparent glass bound by two spherical surfaces.

Difference between convex and concave lens are-

***Convex lens -

i) It is thicker in the middle and thinner at the edges.

ii) It converges the rays of light passing through it.

iii) Nature of the image vary with the distance between light source and image.

***Concave lens-

i) It is thicker at the edges and thinner in the middle.

ii) It diverges the rays of light passing through it.

iii) It forms virtual, erect and diminished image.
