What is a lever?How are the orders of the lever determine?

For example -

  • A small stone is kept as a support for the rod , very close to the rock under the rod. It uses a downward force on the other end of the rod, The rock is lifted upwards. Here, the rod is a lever. The weight lifted by the person is load. The point of support of rod where it touches the stone is the fulcrum. The force used is effort.

Levers can be classified according to the position of the fulcrum, the load and the effort.

  1. When the fulcrum is between the load and the effort it is a first-class lever.
  2. When the load is between the fulcrum and the effort, it is a second-class lever.
  3. When the effort is between the fulcrum and the load , it is a third-class lever.
