Definitation in short- A lever is a rod which can turn about a fixed point called the fulcrum.

Explantation- A lever consists of three parts(mainly)-fulcrum, load arm, effort arm. The fulcrum is the middle part on which the entire lever rests on. The load is the object on which effort is needed to be applied. The effort is the work input that we give.

Types-There are mostly three types of lever- class 1, class 2, and class 3 lever.

Class 1-The levers in which the fulcrum is in between the load and the effort are called levers of class I.Examples: Crowbar, a pair of pliers, common balance, handle of a hand pump, the oar rowing a boat etc.

Class 2- The levers in which the load is in between the fulcrum and the effort are called levers of class II.Examples: Nutcracker, lemon squeezer, mango cutter etc.

Class 3-The levers in which the effort is in between the fulcrum and the load are called levers of class III.Examples: Forceps, a pair of tongs, knife, spade for lifting soil or coal etc.
