A loamy soil is a type of soil which is composed of equal amount of clay and sand. It's also considered to be the best kind of soil.

It consists of 40% sand, 20% clay, and 40% silt and humus.The particle size varies between the size of sandy (0.2 mm) and clayey (0.002 mm) soil. Therefore the soil is gritty as well as smooth. Space between particles such as that  it can hold water as well as air. It is considered the best soil for farming and gardening.
