Long-term increases in atmospheric CO2 and nitrogen deposition associated primarily with fossil fuel burning generally increase plant growth over long periods of time. Terrestrial primary production varies considerably across the surface of the Earth and among differentecosystem types.

Long-term effect of the increased primary productivity of a terrestrial ecosystem produces a lot of Carbon dioxide in the air. These lots of carbon dioxide in the ecosystem is used by the green plants to produce some more benifitial which is again used by the organism for respiration and it's metabolism. These produced oxygen is again re-used by the organisms.
