Mathematics is the science that deals with the logic of shape, quantity and arrangement. Math is all around us, in everything we do. It is the building block for everything in our daily lives, including mobile devices, architecture (ancient and modern), art, money, engineering, and even sports.
For reasons other than mental calculations and a little bit of hard work and thinking, I often fail to grasp why most children and adults fear to study mathematics. Mathematics is the language of the universe; it is the working behind everything physical, chemical and universal. Mathematics has a soul and a form and it is so easy to fall in love with the logical way of concluding things.

Mathematics is a language, in that it allows us to express ideas and notions that are hard or impossible to communicate otherwise. Music is a language in precisely this sense, too.
Mathematics is far more than just a language, though. It is more than a way of communicating and expressing ideas. It has theorems, truths, proven facts about things. That is something that languages simply lack.
Those theorems are expressed in mathematical language, but they aren't merely that language. This is why I feel that "mathematics is a language" doesn't quite capture what math is.
