The perfect explanation can be given with giving you an example, consider an arduino uno board where you were given the task to program the arduino to find an obstacle using ultra sonic sensor where consider the code is used to show the distance within a range from the sensor so as you upload the code to the board if the clock won't work to sync with the current position of the obstacle then the microprocessor isn't capable of analysising according to your need which in effect give you random values , this is what I have observed and understood.
