A naturally occurred substance that has a definite chemical composition is called a mineral. They are created by natural processes without any human interference.

✴The different methods used for mineral extraction are:-

✔Mining - Mining is the process of extraction of minerals from shallow and deep areas. There are two methods of mining by which extraction of minerals can be done:- Open cast mining and Shaft mining.

▶Open cast mining - It is a mining technique in which material is extracted by digging a large hole rather than tunneling or bouring. When mineral ore are located at the shallow depth, they are taken out by removing the surface layer. This type of mining is also known as Open pit mining.

▶Shaft mining - It is a mining technique used for mining the mineral deposits found deep under the Earth's surface. In this technique a mine shaft is generally used for deep bores.

✔Drilling - It is a type of shaft mining generally used for oil and natural gas extraction.

✔Quarrying - It is generally used to extract minerals which lies near the surface by simply digging.
