a lights rays coming from a distant object appear to be coming from the image of the object inside the ground . this is called mirage .it mainly occur in hot conditions and in hot atmospheric condition

It is a phenomenon when the surface air gets heated up and it becomes lighter, moves higher up in the atmosphere. When this occurs then light from cooler areas to warmer areas are refracted and bent upwards.Mirage is a common phenomenon that occurs in a desert.
