mitochondria is the power house of the cell.its a cell organelle.it is in cylindrical shape.this is double membraned.this helps in cell respiration.it gives energy to the cell.this also contains DNA in it.the inner membrane has some foldings they are called cristae and the space between them is called matrix.these are 2-8 micron long and about 0.5 micron wide.and this is about 150 times smaller than nucleus.and there are about 100-150 mitochondria's in each cell.this is the back bone of the cell which provides energy to the cell.

hope this helps u.
