molecule is the smallest particle in a chemical element or compound that has the chemical properties of that element or compound. Molecules are made up of atoms that are held together by chemical bonds. These bonds form as a result of the sharing or exchange of electrons among atoms.

A group of atom combine together is called molecule.

Note:John Dalton called the smallest particle of a compound a compound atom but Amedeo Avogadro later called it a molecule.

Types of molecule

1.Elementary molecules:Molecule formed by combination of atoms of same element.

eg:H2,N2,O2 etc.

2.Compound molecule:Molecule formed by combination of atoms of different element.

eg:H2O,CO2 etc.
