Nominative or Subjective case : When a noun or pronoun is used as a subject in a sentence, it is said to be in nominative case.

Example :

▪He goes to school. (He)

▪Rama reads a book. (Rama)

Accusative or Objective case: When a noun or pronoun is used as a object in sentence, it is said to be accusative case.

Example :

▪Teacher tells the story. (Story)

▪I called him. (Him)

Dative case: When a noun or pronoun is used as the indirect object in a sentence, it is said to be dative case.

Example;

▪I gave the bird a fruit. (Bird)

▪I gave him a book. (Him)

Note: To find the indirect object in a sentence, we should ask 'to whom'. The position of indirect object is immediately after the verb.

Possessive or Genitive case: If a noun or pronoun shows ownership or possession, it is said to be in a genitive case.

Example :

▪This is Rama's book. (Rama)

▪It is my pen. (My)
