The word ore refers to a mineral deposit which contains a metallic element or any other valuable resource. The metal found in the ore is valuable enough to be mined. The ores are mined for the purpose of extracting its metallic content. Most ores are in the forms of rocks, which contain metals in sufficient quantities, concentrations and values. They can be mined profitably.

For example:

Aluminium is extracted from its ore bauxite.

Iron is extracted from the ore haematite.
