particle accelerator is a machine that accelerates small quantum( very small) particles like neutrons and atomic nuclei to speeds close to the speed of light. It is used to produce artificial elements like the last few elements of the periodic table eg: oganesson and tenessine. Few particle accelerators are used to create anti matter ie. the matter that is the opposite counterpart of real matter like antiproton and positron. examples ofParticle accelerators are large hadron collider etc.
