In mathematics, a square number or perfect square is an integer that is the square of an integer; in other words, it is the product of some integer with itself. For example, 9 is a square number, since it can be written as 3 × 3.

Hey mate!

Here's your answer!

A number multiplied by the number gives a perfect square. For example: 2×2 = 4 which is a perfect square. Also,

 \sqrt{4} = 2

In other words, a perfect square is a number which on taking square root gives a perfect whole or natural number. For example: 4 is a perfect square while 2 is not a perfect square, since

 \sqrt{2} \: is \: 1.4

Hope it helps :)
