A photovoltaic cell is also simply called a solar cell.

There are various devices for energy conversions. Similarly, a solar cell / photovoltaic cell is an electrical device which is used to convert light energy into electric energy! It is widely used in solar pannels, wrist watches etc.
It traps the sun's energy (photons) and causes a flow of electrons, thereby converting the light energy to electric energy...
